Meet Fred Fenster, the master pewtersmith I had the privilege of studying with at Penland School of Crafts, in North Carolina. He has a knack for teaching and telling stories.
His work is precise and beautiful. Thank you to Fred and his wonderful assistant, Hiroko for your patience and dedication. If you'd like to read more about Fred, there is a great article about him online:

Holy smokes, long time no post. Some folks are great at traveling and posting, this trip, I completely unplugged (does an iphone and forwarding business calls count?!). I've been on the East coast for 5 weeks and am back now, settling in. Thank you, Andrea, for looking for me!
One of the main reasons for my trip back east was a workshop at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina. It was a two week tableware workshop with Fred Fenster, a man I have wanted to study with for 10 years now. (I will post on him soon- he's incredible). Let me tell you, I am in love with pewter. It is the most underrated metal out there (hence the t-shirt I'm wearing that my classmate made - "Pewter, the other white metal" . Well, just wanted to check in. I have lots to blog on about...
I hope y'all are having a fantastic & creative summer as well. Make some time to work with your talented hands! http://www.penland.org/
