My truck turns 40 years old today! She's a 1969 GMC 3/4 ton pick up & is named after the previous owner who used to tow her Model T Ford to car shows. She sold the truck because she wanted something more reliable as she got older (I hear ya sister). I found the original plate affixed to the owner's manual with the delivery date of July 10th. Chestnut was born in Pasadena, CA. What would have been even cooler is if she was from the GM plant (now closed & gone) in Tarrytown, NY - my hometown. Chestnut draws people in at gas stations and flea markets. I find myself "talking trucks" everyday on the road with strangers.I was thinking about what I could get Chestnut as a birthday gift, but I think a new engine, transmission, starter, radiator, belts & hoses should cover it. Lucky truck.
