the love of my life

This is a photo of my man, G on a recent river trip. He's my shining star.
G & I went kiteboarding last week, it was a great day. Before going to bed, G said he had a bad earache, when he woke up, half of his face was paralyzed. It was a scary day, one that teaches you to appreciate your health and your love for each other. His brain scans were clear and we found out that he has Bell's Palsy. We learned that this is a temporary condition as a result from a virus of trauma (kiteboarding tricks, we think). We are hoping for a full recovery in a few weeks. We have learned about "in sickness and health" in our first year of marriage as well as the value our health and our support and love for each other. I love you G.

UPDATE: Oct. 16th, 2008. FULL Recovery! Yes, G is all better, thank you so much for your thoughts and healthy wishes. We feel blessed.

Oh my gosh, Kristiana, I can't believe your husband has bell's palsy. I had bp when I was three years old. It just about scared the life out of my parents. I don't remember it, but the story is certainly a part of me and I carry around a little fear that it will return (it sometimes does I guess). The drs. told my parents (in 1964) that they didn't know why I got it, but it was probably from riding from California to Wisconsin with my face out the open window (as we travelled with our trailer!) or it was from a bad fall I took from the wind blowing me off our trailer step. Weird. I'm so sorry about your husband and I'm sending you both lots and lots of get well wishes and love.

Hi Kristiana. I'm sorry to hear about what is happening with your husband. My guess is this is why I haven't seen you at fabric school. Hope everything is going well and wish him a speedy recovery. He is in my thoughts and prayers, as are you. ~Julee at Fabric School
